One person has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a car crash, near Burbage.

Two cars were involved in the collision at about 6am today on the A5, at the junction of Smockington Lane (B4114).

Paramedics took one person to Walsgrave Hospital, in Coventry.

The Highways Agency and officers from Leicestershire police have closed the road in both directions.

Police said the road will remain closed until at least noon.
