Two people were taken to hospital following a car crash.

The two-vehicle collision happened at about 2.45pm yesterday in Melton Road, Asfordby Hill, new Melton.

Firefighters rescued an elderly woman who had been trapped in her car and was suffering from chest pains.

One person was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre, in Nottingham, and another to Leicester Royal Infirmary for treatment.

No details have been released about their injuries.
