Credit crunch forces fashion shop to close
A second city centre store has closed in two days with the loss of about 10 jobs.
Fashion outlet Ghost, in Highcross shopping centre, shut its doors yesterday.
Cruise in St Martin's Square – trading as Limeys – closed earlier in the week, with a similar number of jobs going.
Ghost, which has 11 other shops, has been hit by the economic downturn.
The future of another Highcross fashion store seemed to have been secured yesterday after Bay Trading was bought out of administration, safeguarding 45 shops.
The latest closure comes after homeware chain Habitat closed its High Street store earlier this month. Fashion chain Principles, entertainment group Zavvi, confectioner Beard Papa, The Original Shoe Company, The Musician Shop and Whittard of Chelsea have all shut shops at Highcross in the past few months.
