Leicestershire batsman James Taylor has been nominated for another prestigious award.

The 19-year-old, who was last week named as the Cricket Writers Club Young Player of the Year, has been short-listed for the NatWest Professional Cricketers' Association Young Players Award.

Past winners of the John Arlott Trophy, which is awarded to the outstanding young star, have included Ravi Bopara, Alistair Cook and Ian Bell.

Taylor faces some stiff competition for the award. Although only four players have been nominated, his three rivals are all from First Division clubs.

Former County favourite Stuart Broad, now with Nottinghamshire, has enjoyed an outstanding year in helping England to regain the Ashes. Somerset's Craig Kieswetter has emerged as a wicket-keeper batsman of rich promise, while Yorkshire leg-spinner Adil Rashid, winner in 2007, has broken into the England Lions set-up this season.

Taylor's credentials are exceptional, though. He hit 1,200 runs over the course of the first-class season and was capped by County.

He also prospered in one-day cricket and, despite playing his first full season, was still going strong at the end of the campaign.

The awards are unanimously supported by county players, who vote on the main awards themselves.

The winners will be announced at Old Billingsgate in London next Thursday evening.
