Kibworth's cricketers made an early start with a 10-overs-a-side game yesterday to greet the new year.

The Fleckney Road club's former pace bowler Steve Kirby, now with Gloucestershire, was among those braving the cold and he also held a question-and-answer session.

The club, who won the national championship last year, also made presentations to three of their young players – Josh Cobb, Sunny Patel and Greg Smith – who have earned England recognition at under-19 level.
