Cruelty that is unnatural

The comments by Bambi Hornbuckle ("Hunts hope for law repeal", Mercury, October 24) that: "It's so unjust. Foxes are vermin and hunting is the kindest way of getting rid of them" sickens me and, no doubt, other animal lovers.

Any other form of death would be more kindly than being ripped to pieces.

I say to Ms Hornbuckle that she should realise that as one of God's creations herself her true instinctive and natural nature is of love and compassion and always will be.

Unfortunately, she is not being true to herself or her real feelings. This only causes mental conflict to herself. I pray for her and other like-minded people.

Secondly, I refer to the article headed "Woman jailed for cruelty to 99 St Bernard dogs" in the same edition.

The accompanying photo, the looks in the dogs' eyes! Well, I defy anybody not to be moved by it.

I know that God's animals are put on this earth to bring joy into our lives through their love and companionship. Again the owner is not being true to her real self, which is inherently one of love and compassion, and therefore she will experience mental conflict – that is guilt . I will pray for her also.
