A former De Montfort University student turned established county artist has been commissioned to create a piece of artwork to celebrate the opening of the £21m Phoenix Square.

Sally Rose Renner, of Rutland, has been selected to produce the three dimensional, life-size installation "Life in The Cultural Quarter" to mark the opening of the digital media centre on Thursday, November 19. The artwork is being constructed entirely from recycled paper and cardboard.

Sally said: "I have enjoyed the challenge of giving people an impression of what it might be like to live in the stunning apartments in Phoenix Square.

"The building is inspirational as is the effort everyone is making to bring it to life."
