Cyclists should show respect to get respect
I read Eric Ludlow's first person column with interest.
His group wants to make cycling normal? Well, let's start by getting cyclists on the road, where they should be.
I notice there was not one mention of pedestrians in his column – it was all about cyclists and motorists – but far too many cyclists are on pavements.
Of those who do use the road, too many flout the laws – red lights mean nothing to a lot of them.

On the Road Wars programme he mentioned, one cyclist said she went through red lights because everyone did it.
I hope the helmet proposal happens as that would force the police to take action, because at the moment they're not interested.
When cyclists start showing respect, they might just get some back.
