Jamie Caven reached the final of the latest PDC tour event – and was blown away by a terrific 'Power' show.

Caven claimed the scalps of former world champion Mark Webster, Wayne Mardle, Gary Anderson and Mark Dudbridge on the way to the final of the UK Open qualifier in Wigan.

That sent him through to face 15-times world champion Phil 'The Power' Taylor.

Caven missed a couple of darts at double top to win the opening leg, then stood back and watched Taylor power to a 6-0 whitewash with an astonishing three-dart average of 121.86.

"Phil was phenomenal," said the sharp shooter from Eyres Monsell. "It was unbelievable to watch. He just didn't miss.

"If those darts at double top in the first leg had landed the other side of the wire, who knows what would have happened?

"I'm not saying I would have won, but it would have been closer.

"I've got to put a few extra hours in this week and maybe I can give him a tougher test next time."

Caven's run to the final in Wigan has taken him above three-times world champion John Part and Peter Manley to 27th in the PDC's Order of Merit – and says he knew from his opening-round 6-3 demolition of Mark Carter that he was in red-hot form.

Caven threw six maximum 180s and had a 170 check-out in that match and went on to beat Wayne Jones (6-2), Mardle (6-3), Webster (6-2), Anderson (6-3) and Dudbridge (6-3).
