A hospital day case unit is due to reopen before Christmas after overcoming problems with a sterilising unit.

The £3.3 million prefabricated building at St Luke's Hospital, in Market Harborough, which provides endoscopy scans, was closed in September, nine months after it opened.

The trust which operates the building said endoscopy sessions were suspended as a precaution while checks were carried out on unexplained rust patches appearing on a recently-installed decontamination machine.

The closure has meant people from the area having to travel to Hinckley, Loughborough or Melton for treatment.
