The whips found coun Sprason broke party rules by giving a frank interview to the mercury about the DVD which led to widespread coverage in the national media.
They had recommended coun Sprason be removed as deputy leader and cabinet member for adults and communities and serve a two month suspension from the group - reduced to a month if he apologised.

“If he was a ordinary council employee caught doing this he would have been dismissed forthwith.
However being the person he is I'm sure the boys of the old brigade will somehow get him off quite lightly with the minimum embaressment to their party and make it look like justice has been done.”

“It would seem that Cllr Sprason is still subject to the ongoing pro/anti Parsons power struggle within the Tory party contingent at County Hall;
And (@ BluearmyBOB), dispite your pragmatic appeal, I fear the bashing will go on, and that's purely because most of the protagonists are baying for blood purely out of a sense of injustice; a council employee in the same situation would probably have suffered far more serious sanctions (maybe even dismissal) than this council member ultimately will do...”
