Castle Donington: Members of Castle Donington and District Flower Club rounded off 2009 with a demonstration by Penny Vincent.

Penny lives near Melton and took along some beautiful flowers and foliage to create traditional and modern designs.

The club's next meeting will be a New Year party.

This will take place on Wednesday, January 13, at 7.30pm in the Village Hall, with a "bring and share" buffet.

As always, old and new members will be most welcome.

Long Whatton and Diseworth: The next meeting of Long Whatton and Diseworth Parish Council will take place at Long Whatton Community Centre at 7.30pm tomorrow.

The meeting will be preceded by a public question-and-answer session.
