Diners advised
Council staff will visit a lunch club for elderly people to highlight the dangers of food poisoning.
National Food Safety Week begins on Monday, and teams from Oadby and Wigston Borough Council will visit the Age Concern lunch club, Paddock Street, Wigston, to give advice on avoiding listeria – which generally affects people over 60.
A council spokeswoman said:
"Listeria grows in cold temperatures so it's important to eat refrigerated food before its use by date. We advise people to eat all food taken out of the fridge within four hours."
