Firefighters came to the rescue after a dog got tangled up in a recliner chair.

The black Scottish terrier became trapped while snoozing under the chair at her home in Coverside Road, Great Glen. As she dozed, her owner, not realising she was underneath, decided to recline the chair.

Her owners tried to free her, but eventually had to call for help.

A crew from Wigston fire station arrived shortly after 9.30pm on Monday.

Watch manager Wayne Gale said: "The dog was trapped between the metal bars of the mechanism.

"We took two bolts out, removed one of the bars and she was free. It took about 10 minutes.

"The dog must have been in a bit of discomfort. The owners were talking to a vet."
