The sailing lake at Celtic Lakes, Frisby-on-the-Wreake, has been providing some outstanding predator sport.

Leicester's Rob Drake caught two fine zander, weighing 12lb 8oz and 8-0.

He was fishing at range in the open water from the sailing club spit.

Plenty of pike are being caught around the banks with the bays and channels proving particularly fruitful areas.

Loughborough's Adam Hollis took a 16-6 fish.

Pole tactics on the roadside bank are bringing some fine catches of roach and skimmers.

Leicester's Harry Connors fished from the bay by the road for a bag of about 20lb of roach, rudd, skimmers and perch.

On the boys' pit, anglers have been catching some fine pike. Andy Pollard, of Leicester, caught three fish on the fly and Melton's Jamie Clarke had four fish of between 8-0 and a personal best of 16-14.

Fishery manager Chay Jackson caught four chub, with the best scaling 5-4, on the River Wreake section of the fishery.

Celtic Lakes are holding a predator open on Saturday, November 26. There is a first prize of £350 and full details are available from 07791 104984.

Bob Greenbury won Sunday's open at Lakeview Fishery, Holwell. He caught 58-0 from peg seven on the stream pool to beat 20 rivals.Andy Searle was runner-up on 55-11 and Bob Greenbury third on 49-9.
