Driver is assaulted in store's car park

Two men attacked a driver in a supermarket car park in what is believed to be an attempted robbery.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, at 7.40pm last Friday, at Morrisons, Hinckley.

The 48-year-old victim was in his car near to Normandy Way when a man opened the passenger side door, got in and assaulted the him.

A second man then approached the driver's door and assaulted the victim.

Nothing was taken in the incident.

The suspects made off through a gap in the hedge towards Normandy Way before turning right in the direction of Ashby Road.

One of the suspects is white, in his early 20s, 5ft 9in and was wearing a dark grey hooded top with the hood up and blue jeans.

The second suspect is 6ft, skinny and was wearing a dark zipped-up coat and a balaclava.

Detective Constable Alf Doyle said: "I am keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw it take place or saw the suspects making off from the scene."

Witnesses should contact Det Con Doyle on 101.
