Leicester Mercury

Journeying home after my shift today, there was a white van veering a little in front of me.

The driver a young man, was on his mobile phone.

I beeped him as I drew alongside and told him to get off the phone. He in his vulgar way stuck his fingers up at me and used foul language.

He was not only driving with undue care and attention – he was breaking the law.

It's a shame that young men like him think they can get away with things like this and I hope when he really thinks about what he did and how he behaved he is ashamed of himself.

Name and address supplied.

“Well, Danger Fox, with your comments and attitude, I'm not sure how you behave on the road and what is the point in reporting someone on a phone, no evidence, number plate etc. How do you know the writer isn't perhaps an older lady with no intention of challenging to a fight.
(By the way I think you mean you 'counsel' against and not 'council'.”

“Who died and put you in charge of the road - Unless you are a police officer, you are taking a bit of a chance "beeping" and dishing out instructions to other road-users, especially young men driving vans.

By all means report what you see, but I strongly council against ticking off your fellow drivers because at some point your going to come across someone who will take your rather supercilious attitude as an affront to their masculinity and consider you to have challenged them to a fight - Unless that is exactly what your trying to do”
