Drivers injured as cars collide on country lane

Two people were taken to hospital following a collision on a country road.

A Vauxhall Astra came to a stop in a field on the road between Warren Hills and Copt Oak, near Coalville, on Monday, after it collided with a people carrier.

The drivers of both vehicles were treated at the scene and taken to hospital for further treatment.

The extent of their injuries was not disclosed

The crash happened at about 3pm between the Bull's Head pub and Copt Oak.

The fire service also went to the scene.

A passing motorist, who asked not to be named, said: "It must have been quite frightening for the driver.

"It looked like the car had gone over the verge and through a dry-stone wall and then landed the opposite way round.

"At first, I thought all the cars were slowing down because the road was still bad, because of the snow.

"But then I saw it was because they were slowing to have a look at the car."
