Drivers trapped in flooded cars

The fire service was called to help rescue two motorists who had become trapped in flood water on Leicestershire's roads.

At 10.35am on Saturday, two people were stranded when their car got stuck in flood water on Watery Gate Lane, in Thurlaston, near Earl Shilton. They were helped out of the vehicle before fire crews arrived.

At 12.15pm the same day, a car was reported stuck in Blackhorse Hill, Appleby Magna, near Ashby. The driver and passenger in the car managed to get out without help and fire crews returned to base.
