A drug dealer who sold heroin and crack-cocaine to an undercover police officer has been jailed for four-and-a-half years.

It is the second time Billy Hussein has been caught in a sting operation targeting suppliers of class A drugs in Leicester.

The 25-year-old, of Braybrooke Road, Northfields, Leicester, admitted three counts of supplying heroin and one offence of supplying crack-cocaine – during Operation Nutmeg – in February this year.

Leicester Crown Court was told the undercover officer posed as a drug user.

He was approached by another user at the city's job centre, who then introduced the officer to Hussein. Four £15 drug transactions then followed.

In January 2010, Hussein was jailed for three years after being caught in a similar sting, supplying heroin and cocaine, during Operation Quibble.

He was released in August last year.

Judge Simon Hammond said: "He must have been on licence for the earlier offences, when these matters took place.

"The defendant was part of a team knocking out drugs."

He warned Hussein: "If you're caught doing this for a third time, then the minimum term is seven years."

Judge Hammond praised the undercover officer who caught Hussein.

He was referred to in court by an assumed name of "Tommy".

The judge said: "I want to pay tribute to the courage of the officer.

"He was working undercover in the twilight world of drugs.

"It was a very dangerous assignment."

Andrew Fryman, mitigating, said Hussein had been selling on behalf of another person.

He made arrangements by mobile phone and made a "modest profit".

Mr Fryman said: "He was prepared to go out and meet face-to-face those he was selling to.

"He was lower down the supply chain. He accepts he made bad choices on being released from prison.

"He's in a relationship and he hopes his girlfriend will stand by him during his lengthy period in prison.

"He's now expressing positive goals for his life."

The court confiscated £220 cash, seized from Hussein on his arrest.
