Drugs inquiry after two people found dead in Leicester and Melton
Police have launched an investigation following the deaths – believed to be drugs related – of two people over the weekend.
Officers were called to an address, in Leicester, on Saturday morning after concerns were raised by relatives.

Anyone with information about the circulation of Methoxetamine within the city and county is asked to contact police on 101
At the address, which is not being disclosed by police, officers discovered the body of a 59-year-old woman.
As a result of inquiries into the woman's death, officers then went to an address in Melton yesterday morning, there they discovered the body of a 32-year-old man.
Post-mortem examinations on the deceased are yet to take place, however, police said that their deaths are "not thought to be suspicious, but remain unexplained".
Detective Inspector Rob Widdowson said:“One of our lines of enquiry is that prior to their deaths both people may have taken a drug known medically as Methoxetamine, which is a form of the drug Ketamine and may have been purchased over the internet. However, we believe that both people believed that they were taking a drug which is referred to as MCAT or Mephadrone.
“As a result, we are issuing a warning to anyone who has obtained this or similar substances not to take it and to contact the police or other health professionals."
Anyone with information about the circulation of Methoxetamine within the city and county is asked to contact police on 101.

“@ Red_Ned; totally agree - there are some reports on the online edition that should not be available for comment, in addition several times I've noted to the LM that I feel it's also inappropriate to be able to 'recommend' those same articles too.
I first noticed it when there was the initial report of the motorcyclist who was killed whilst test riding a bike off-road a year or more ago, and since then there have also been the two families where the husband killed the wife & children, and also countless road accident deaths too.
Imagine how a relative or close friend feels when associated with their loved ones' death is a 'thumbs up' "recommendation" in the dozens or more...
But of course, the financial gain to be had in advertising revenue from page 'hits' down to these referrals exceeds the impropriety of the occurrence, as far as Northcliffe Media are concerned...”

“Thanks for your comment Ned_Red. Ive been a friend of the man that died for the last 15 years. He was due this week to catch up with friends down here that he has known before his move to leicester. He was a lovely guy, unique sense of humour, but to pigeon hole him is so wrong. He will be so deeply missed. Looks like we will be taking a visit to see him instead, for one last time.”

“Wish they wouldn;t allow comments for these kinds of articles. Two people have died, it's a tragedy whether they were drug addicts or not. And yet someone can come on here, someone without the faintest clue about these people's lives or "choices", and demean their deaths (and lives) with a (virtual) shrug of the shoulders. Pretty unpleasant behaviour.”

“Hi, just to be clear. The initial police statement talked of 'methadrone', later changed to 'mephadrone'. It is of course 'mephedrone' and that's what I've put into the paper today. Apologies.

“Get a grip with the emotions folks. They made a series of choices, all with a high level of risk. These weren`t "spur of the moment run out in front of a bus" choices. They paid the ultimate price and the one hope is that the waste of life makes someone think twice.
I would have sympathy if there was tragedy/ lack of choice but not in these cases.”

."Sorry but I have no time for druggies."
Now would that include all people who suffer from an addiction? The functioning alcoholic and the nicotine user for example”

“when i first read this, the quote that I posted was in the article, this quote: "we believe that both people believed that they were taking a drug which is referred to as MCAT or Mephadrone." Was not included. whereas the quote in my first comment was. you can see an example of what was in the article before they changed it in these two articles, as they read very similar from before this is Leicester decided to change it. here: http://tinyurl.com/7x2qczr
and here: http://tinyurl.com/7x9sqk2
I'm glad that this is Leicestershire (and the bbc, who wrote much the same report) have decided to rectify these errors, but it would have nice for them to acknowledge they made mistakes too.”

“You may want to read again Londres as the Inspector states that Methoxetamine is a type of Ketamine. The persons involved believed they were taking MCAT, methadrone.”
