The Duchess of Cambridge
The trip is one of a series of Diamond Jubilee visits around the UK.
Kate carried out her first solo public engagement last week when she visited the National Portrait Gallery, in central London, for a preview of a Lucian Freud show that gives a comprehensive overview of the late artist’s work.
Her visit to Leicester is one of two engagements next month, Buckingham Palace said today.
Kate will accompany the Queen and the Duchess of Cornwall to Fortnum and Mason in central London on March 1.
During the visit, the Queen will unveil a plaque to commemorate the regeneration of Piccadilly.
Her husband William is in the Falkland Islands as part of his work as an RAF search and rescue co-pilot.

“" and maybe a couple of beers in the 'Fountain' may be right up her street" - you must have seen the footage from her trip to the Guinness brewery in Dublin, when she was handed a pint of the black stuff. Necked it down in one she did.”

“Well I for one wish I could be there, I think Kate is absolutely lovely, and what could beat a good 'ol trip to Leicester with the most Famous Woman in the World. I think that William and Kate are doing their best, in their elevated position, to try and identify with the younger generation and add some colour and verve to the Royal Family. All the Queen gets to smell is newly cut grass and fresh paint, and for 60 years it has been exactly the same for her. So a trip with Kate, and maybe a couple of beers in the 'Fountain' may be right up her street...(for my critics this was a tongue in cheek remark and NOT to be taken too seriously)”

“who cares? Their visit will probably cost as much and attract as many of the city's great thinkers as the EDL march did...”

“@Martinle3. They'll perhaps be able to do the weekly shop whilst there. Don't expect Kate will be nipping into Primark whilst in Leicester though.”

Is it me, or does this really not sound to arduous?”
