'Earn and learn' roadshow
Loughborough house-builder William Davis has been running a roadshow to recruit the 2013 intake of its in-house apprenticeship scheme.
HR and training officer Rebecca Jones has been meeting the next generation of aspiring bricklayers, plumbers, electricians and carpenters and joiners, by visiting county schools and colleges.
Following the sessions, eight new apprentices will be picked to start their placements in August.
She said: "We received more than 80 applicants for this year's apprenticeship intake, which is an encouraging sign young people are choosing construction as a viable career.

"We are certain the achievements of some of our former apprentices have proven inspirational for many of our applicants. With apprenticeships providing a brilliant opportunity to 'earn and learn', we are confident the successful candidates will go on to enjoy fulfilling careers at William Davis."
The firm's apprenticeship scheme provides a three or four year structured training programme combining mentoring on site together with classroom learning at Stephenson College or Loughborough College.
