Easter Day pick: Egg hunts
Homer, Georgia. A speck on the American map with just 950 inhabitants. But in 1985, thanks to a particularly virulent outbreak of Easter enthusiasm, there were 80,000 eggs to find dotted around the towns.
We can’t match that, but there are plenty of places to go to enjoy a spot of chocolatey hide-and-seek at Easter.

An Easter Egg, yesterday
Belvoir Castle is staging a Bunny Hunt until Monday. Children follow the clues and at the end every youngster receives a small chocolate rabbit. At the end of each day, all the children will be entered into a draw to win a Big Belvoir Chocolate Bunny.
Throughout the day, there will be re-enactments of a Victorian Easter and you can learn a Victorian dance in the beautiful surroundings of the castle ballroom.
Charnwood Museum is running a chicken and egg hunt until April 19. See if you can find all the eggs hiding around the museum and crack their secret code.
After all the chocolate you’re going to be scoffing over the next few days, you’ll have put on a bit of pork. Why not walk it off with an Easter treasure hunt at the Great Central Railway.
Join the railway at Loughborough, Quorn or Rothley station. Pick up a leaflet with a walk – spot the clues on the way and get to the next station – then take the train back and hand in your answers.
One entry will be drawn out of the hat to win a pair of Saturday lunchtime dining tickets. For more information, ring 01509 230 726.
