Engelbert Humperdinck trying to trace man who offered £2m for car number plate
Music veteran Engelbert Humperdinck is trying to trace a mystery man who offered to buy his personalised car number plate – for £2 million.
The Leicester legend was approached by the man after parking his Rolls-Royce Corniche at London's Savoy Hotel.

After they chatted, Humperdinck found out that in addition to wanting to talk about his music, the man had his eye on the star's licence plate, EH1.
Humperdinck, 76, promised to call to "close the deal'' after the potential buyer handed him a card, but he later found he had lost the card.

“Whatever is wrong with having a personal number plate... Every car has one.. But if you sell the car the plate goes with it. And the next car you buy will have another "personal plate" I think we should all have our own choice of number plate. They can be transferred from car to car and it would solve the DVLA problem of running out of number combinations. They do it in the USA why not here. They have their own plates for life... How do I know? My son lives there and he has his own plate.. It has the State he lives in on it too... If he moved he would have to change the State.
