A jobs fair aimed at helping people into work, training or volunteering posts takes place this week.

Abbey Primary School, in Ellis Avenue, Leicester, is hosting the event on Thursday, from 8.45am to 11.30am.

It is designed for people in St Matthew's, Belgrave, Rushey Mead, Abbey and Latimer wards.

Organisers said they hoped to attract job-seekers from a range of ethnic minorities.

Visitors will be able to get information on vacancies and help in completing application forms, writing CVs and preparing for interviews.

There will also be support and advice on benefits, information on what childcare is available and details of volunteering opportunities across the city.

The event is part of a project run by Leicester City Council to help people find out more about the world of work or volunteering.
