Father robbed by two men on canal towpath in Leicester

A father was robbed by two men as he was pushing his daughter in a buggy along a canal towpath in Leicester.

The 19-year-old victim was on the towpath off Abbey Park Road when he was approached by two men.

One of the men asked for the time and the other searched the father, stealing cash, cigarettes and a lighter.

The victim chased one of the suspects who rode off underneath the Belgrave flyover.

The robbery took place at 11.30am on Monday, September 24.

Officers investigating a robbery in Leicester are appealing for potential witnesses to come forward.

The man who rode off on a black mountain bike is white, about 25 to 30 years old, about 6ft tall, of medium build, with a light brown goatee style beard. He was wearing a light blue beanie style hat, grey jumper and light brown military style trousers.

The second suspect was also white, aged about 18 to 25, about 5ft 9in tall, of slim build, with short jet black hair. He was wearing a white hooded jacket, with the hood pulled up over his head, and dark tracksuit bottoms.

Pc Waheed Nagdi is investigating the incident, he said: “If you witnessed any aspect of this incident we would urge you to contact us.”
