Firefighters spent more than an hour working to free a lorry driver trapped in the cab of his vehicle.

The light goods vehicle was involved in a collision in Melton Road, Burton on the Wolds, near Loughborough, just before 3.30am on Thursday.

Firefighters from Loughborough and the technical rescue team from Leicester's southern station worked to free the driver, finally releasing him at 4.46am.

An East Midlands Ambulance Service doctor and paramedics were at the scene. The driver was taken to hospital by ambulance. Details of his condition are not available.
