UPDATED: Flood alert as Slash Lane, in Sileby, remains closed

UPDATE 5PM: A flood alert has been issued for the upper Soar catchment area in Leicestershire.

The Environment Agency has said that flooding is possible for the River Soar including tributaries from Sharnford to the River Wreake confluence at Syston.

A flood alert is still in place for low-lying land near Sileby and Mountsorrel and drivers are being warned Slash Lane, in Sileby, is closed both ways because of flooding.

The Environment Agency alert means that flooding is possible and people living in surrounding areas should be prepared.
