Football: Leicestershire & Rutland FA failed in FA Youth Cup bid
Unlucky Leicestershire & Rutland failed in their bid to reach the semi-finals of the FA Youth Cup.
The under-18 side were beaten 2-1 by Liverpool at Holmes Park, an outcome that could have been different for a couple of injuries to key players.
Anthony Riley's boys started strongly and looked the better side for much of the first half. They were rewarded when Brady Hickey volleyed home on 20 minutes.
They received a blow soon after, however, when ever-present centre-back Mason Holwell had to be replaced after picking up a knock.

County did have a chance to increase their lead but, after the break, Liverpool hit back with a couple of goals, both of which came after the second centre-back, Sam Preston was forced to leave the field with an injury.
Despite a hectic last 15 minutes, led by some excellent play from midfielder Che Adams, the home side just couldn't snatch an equaliser.
Manager Riley said: "I am really disappointed for all the squad as they have done ever so well to get so far in the competition.
"We were unlucky to lose both centre-backs to injury before conceding, but all credit to Liverpool who scored two good goals while they were on top in the second half."
