Foster care services given 'good' rating
A council's work to place vulnerable children in foster homes has been rated "good" by Ofsted.
A report published yesterday said inspectors found children and young people make progress in terms of their physical, emotional and mental health, and receive support and advice to help them make the transition into adulthood with Leicestershire County Council.
Its rating is the second highest and an improvement on the "satisfactory" grade at the last inspection five years ago.
Ivan Ould, the county council's spokesman for children and young people, said: "I'm pleased this report commends the quality of our fostering service and recognises the difference it is making to the lives of children.

The council said it is taking steps to address areas for improvement, such as increasing take-up of foster carer training and embedding new procedures and practices.
