Police have made a renewed appeal for help after a man died in road crash in Leicestershire.

Simon Ware died after the crash in Bitteswell in December.

The 44-year-old was walking along Ashby Lane at about 5pm on Monday, December 19, when he was involved in a collision with a blue Ford Transit Connect van and a second vehicle which failed to stop at the scene.

Mr Ware was taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary with serious injuries where he subsequently died.

Detective Constable Ady Keeble said: “The investigation is still ongoing and we are now asking for the public’s help in tracing Mr Ware’s movements prior to the collision.

“We believe Mr Ware was seen in Lutterworth at about 3.30pm and then again in Hall Lane, Bitteswell around 5pm. We would like to speak to anyone who saw him between 3.30pm and 5pm and may know how Mr Ware got to Bitteswell from Lutterworth.

“He was wearing a dark ¾ length overcoat at the time and we would ask anyone who recognises Mr Ware’s picture or saw someone wearing a similar coat in the area on Monday December 19 to contact us.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Det Con Keeble on 101.
