Gang in raid at jewellers on Belgrave Road, Leicester

Robbers posing as workmen have raided a jewellers in Belgrave Road, Leicester.

Three men in a car pulled up outside the shop and cordoned off the area with cones and a sign saying they were carrying out essential work.

One of the gang smashed the window and a second grabbed jewellery from the shop.

All three got back into the car and drove off along Dorset Street.

No-one was injured during the incident which happened at about 7pm on Saturday.

The car - a silver Vauxhall Vectra, vehicle registration DY52HDC - was later found abandoned and alight in Martin Street.

Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to call police on 101.
