Hundreds of shoppers and staff watched on in horror as a glass ceiling panel crashed to the floor in Leicester's Highcross shopping centre.

The large pane of glass shattered as it hit the ground after falling 50ft at about 9.30am today.

The shards scattered across BBs Coffee and Muffins and narrowly missed customers in a coffee shop.

No-one was injured following the incident.
