Two Oadby golfers are one step away from booking places in the Dubai final of the Matchplay Championship.

Adam Jacques and Jan Reading have qualified for the north regional final at Marriott Hollins Hall, near Leeds.

That betterball stableford event will be played out in front of Sky Sports cameras next month.

The top 18 pairs will book spots in the final at the Els Club, Dubai, in May.

To reach this stage, Jacques and Reading have battled their way through multiple rounds involving thousands of entrants.

Matthew Cort (Rothley Park) and his amateur partners – James Green, Dave Wardle and Mustafa Abdulhusein – tied for victory in a PGA Midland winter pro-am at Marriott Forest of Arden Hotel.

They carded an 11-under-par-133 aggregate to be level with the line-up of Philip Hinton (Chesterton Valley).

Cort hit level-par 72 and was joint eighth in the professional medal section.

Kirby Muxloe's Matt Stephens shared 12th place on 73.

Paul March and Jez Sparkes won the adult competition on Hinckley's junior development fund-raising day.

They totalled 44 points, one ahead of Ian Malone and Mark Jackson with Alan Millhouse and Shayne Butterworth third on 41.

David Golding took the juniors' nine-hole competition on 22 from Jack Skelton (21) and Adam McAleer (17).

The day raised £500, which will be ploughed back into the junior section, including helping to deliver a free coaching programme.
