Birstall United Vixens produced a gr-eight performance in the Leicester City & County League Cup first round.

They beat Thurmaston Pink Panthers 8-1 with Poppy Gordon getting four of them.

Gordon got the first after two minutes, but Thurmaston quickly equalised from a free-kick. However, Gordon regained the lead for Birstall with a powerful shot.

Birstall were starting to take control and Amy Collins crossed for Ella Wortley to score their third.

In the second half, Gordon made it 4-1 from Sarah Olsen's cross. Then Olsen got on the scoresheet after the ball had rebounded off the Thurmaston keeper.

The game was now firmly in Birstall's control and two more from Collins, and one from Gordon, completed the scoring.

Asfordby Aces overpowered and outplayed a below-strength, but spirited Weddington Thistle team to the tune of 16-1 in the Under-14 Division.

Nailah Master got the ball rolling after five minutes with a great shot.

Jade Pereira dribbled around several defenders before striking the second, before Rachel Burton scored following a great cross from Paige Gunn.

Gunn, Burton, Sophie Ellerton and Master made it seven at the break.

Brave and unbowed, Weddington scored a well-deserved goal, but this only sparked further Aces attacks.

They added to their tally through Ellerton (2), Master (2), Gunn (2), Olivia Taylor and Heidi Millin (2), who came out of goal to play up front.
