At 6am, officers arrested a 30-year-old man in Asfordby, near Melton, on suspicion of criminal damage, threats to kill and possession of a firearm.
An area around the pub was cordoned off until noon yesterday while officers continued their investigation.
A police spokeswoman said no-one had been hurt in the incident.
The couple who run the pub, in Beaumont Leys Lane, Leicester, said the first they heard of the incident was when police woke them, just after midnight.
"The pub was shut and we were in bed," said Brian Oakley, whose wife, Linda, is landlady.
"The police woke us to ask if we had heard anything, which we hadn't.
"All we were told is that there was an incident between two people."
