Crochet cafes, dance workshops and history walks are part of a scheme to boost people's health and wellbeing through cultural activities.

A series of 60 events known as Wellbeing Wednesdays are taking place at Leicestershire's libraries, museums, arts and voluntary groups throughout October.

The scheme has been launched by Leicestershire County Council, NHS Leicestershire County and Rutland, the Big Difference Company, Dance 4 and Mantle Arts.

Councillor David Sprason, the county council's acting deputy leader, said: "Taking part in cultural activities can really boost your health and wellbeing, by tackling stress, boosting activity and building friendships. I'd encourage people to join in, as there's something for everyone."
