Love will be in the air today when a scheme to raise cash for a heart centre is launched.

People will be able to leave a message for a loved one at Highcross and make a donation to the University of Leicester's bid to raise £1 million towards a new £12.6 million cardiovascular research centre at Glenfield Hospital.

The shopping centre is hosting the appeal's mascot, a sculpture called The Stranded Heart, which is outside the Next store on the upper floor.
