Villagers will soon be seeing their homes in a new light and finding ways of saving money.

Appleby Magna Parish Council and community group Appleby Environment have been awarded a grant from the Rural Community Council and Leicestershire County Council to produce a thermal image of all the houses in the village.

The results of the survey will be the focus of an exhibition to be held on Saturday, March 5, in the church hall.

Thermal images show the extent of heat lost from properties, with the loss indicated by a colour scale on the image.

The exhibition will show some of these images and give practical help on how to keep the heat in.

Sonia Liff, Chair of Appleby Environment, said "In Appleby, we have houses from the 16th to the 21st century.

"We want to show residents that wherever you live there are ways to save energy."
