Hinckley, Syston and Coalville boost National Three Midlands promotion hopes
Promotion hopefuls Hinckley, Syston and Coalville all enjoyed a profitable weekend.
Hinckley have regained form at a crucial time in National Three Midlands. They beat Kettering 41-31 and took second place as Bromsgrove lost to Luctonians.
Wayne Johnson scored twice and Sam Massarella, Ben Ashfield and Sam Greasley also touched down. Guy Swadling converted a penalty try and kicked three conversions and a penalty.
Syston had a comprehensive 55-0 victory against Stewart & Lloyds to remain a point behind second-placed Derby in Midlands One (East) with a game in hand.
Coalville continued their charge towards the Midlands Two (North) championship.
They beat fourth-placed Belgrave 58-5 to move four points clear of Spalding and six ahead of Market Rasen, who have a game in hand.
Tommy Knifton scored for Belgrave, while there were eight tries for Coalville.
Adam White, Gareth Turner, Michael Hodges, Ben Argyle, Johnny Hart, Tom Rice, Michael Richmond and Carl Roberts all scored, and Hodges added five penalties and a conversion.
Meanwhile, Ashby and Oakham continue to go great guns in their battle to land the Three (North) title.
Ashby beat Boston 65-5 to remain top while Oakham are just a point behind following a 22-14 triumph at Kesteven.
Elsewhere, South Leicester beat Kenilworth 29-24 in National Three Mids, but Market Bosworth lost 48-8 at Wellingborough in Midlands One.
In Midlands Two (North), in-form Melton emerged from Loughborough with a narrow 10-8 win in a tense game.
In Midlands Two (South), Market Harborough remain six points behind Banbury with two games in hand following their 37-5 win at Old Newts. Ed Bale grabbed four tries in a man-of-the-match show.
Leicester Forest were 31-20 winners against Towcestrians, while Lutterworth lost 27-21 against Peterborough Lions.
In Midlands Four (East), Oadby Wyggs beat Stoneygate 27-13 to go clear at the top.
