Great Bowden: The Historical Society will meet on Monday, May 11, in the village hall at 7.30pm, when the speaker will be Dr Alan McWhirr talking about Digging up Leicester Archaeology.

Also at the meeting, Mr Kevan Hollidge of Leicester will present the society with an old family bible with Great Bowden connections.

Mr Hollidge found the Bible in a dilapidated state and has, at his own expense, had it renovated and has kindly agreed to present it to the society.

The Bible lists names of the Carter family in the village and anyone with connections to that name in Great Bowden is invited to attend the meeting to see if there are any names which they recognise.
