Leicester Mercury

Last week we have had to visit Loros. We had a family member who was very poorly.

On entering the building we were greeted with smiling staff, but not silly or over the top.

Our patient had a side ward, this was private and what we needed.

The room itself was very clean and bright. As good as any five-star hotel and with care second to none. The staff were all helpful and obliging. Our patient finally lost her fight against life and once more they couldn't do enough. They carried out their business with great dignity. They included us at all times, telling us what was happening and couldn't do enough.

We will be eternally grateful to these people. So thank you Loros, you've got it spot on.Not enough is published about this place.

Nicola Whitsey, Anstey.

The noise from the proposed HS2 line will be the worst effect of this railway upon rural Leicestershire .

Surely our engineers will be able to develop silent running trains which should be a prerequisite to the line being built.

With reference to Mr Bannister's claim that paying rent at shops with PayPoint is making it harder for people to pay ("Changes make it harder for benefit recipients", February 2), there are 122 such shops in the city of Leicester (and hundreds more throughout the county) compared with just one or two council offices.

Moreover, these shops are mostly open from early morning to late at night, seven days a week.

Over two-thirds of our customers live within a quarter of a mile of their nearest PayPoint, and no-one living in the city should need to travel to a central office, whether by car or bus, or pay for parking, which makes it far easier and convenient to pay their rent.

That's why the service, which is free to use, is used more than 10.5 million times nationally every week.

For those with web access, PayPoint outlets can be found at:

“I completely agree with the comments about LOROS. One of my relatives spent some time in there and the care was second to none and after experiencing this first-hand LOROS is at the top of my charities list when it comes to donations. Whilst I'm sure other charities do equally splendid work we have to see them in action to really appreciate them.”
