“garyb2011, the dishonest manipulation of the red and green arrows is working incredibly fast this morning. But I guess right wing Cons have always been dishonest though, haven't they!”

“Re: johnroper2010 - this may be a joint petition, as a petition was also available to sign in Wigston Library for a couple of weeks at the start of the month/end of last month.”

“Quote: "Bob, small businesses closing down has nothing to do with austerity measures"
Ha, ha, pull the other one. People with no money do not spend.
If people do not spend, then small businesses such as shops cannot sell.
If they cannot sell, they go out of business.
So the incompetent Con boy Chancellor Osborne is killing town centres with his unimaginative austerity measures.
Greedy landlords, most of which no doubt vote Con, who charge vast amounts in house and shop rents do not help. But internet shopping is here to stay, and small businesses need to learn to trade on the internet.”

“Bob, small businesses closing down has nothing to do with austerity measures and everything to do with punitive rates imposed by OWBC and high rents from landlords.
Online shopping also doesn't help smaller, specialist retailers competing in sectors now dominated by large websites who can undercut.
If OWBC want to help, they should CUT RATES and impose limits on what type of shop can open- do we really need umpteen kebab shops and charity shops? Problem is the Lib Dems are in control and they LOVE to soak private enterprise to prop up their daft ideas.”

“Err.... I think you'll find this was a petition about the Oadby car parks, not Wigston.... perhaps the Mercury could correct?”

“The biggest problem in Wigston is the closing down of so many small businesses caused by over severe austerity measures taken by the incompetent Con government.
The people who use Wigston's shops do not have the money to spend anymore, except in the increasing number of charity shops. There must be about ten of those! Soon the town centre will be dead.”
