Two employees of a fox hunt will have to wait until the new year to find out if they have broken the law.

Derek Hopkins and Kevin Allen are accused of breaching the ban on hunting with dogs.

Both Hopkins, 45, of Welham Road, Great Bowden, and Allen, 51, of Nether Green, Great Bowden, deny hunting a wild mammal with a dog contrary to the law.

The men, of Harborough's Fernie Hunt also deny digging a badger sett or being reckless that their actions would damage it.

The case, being heard at Leicester Magistrates' Court was adjourned until January 6, as defence wanted to make a detailed legal submission.

Philip Mott QC, defending, told the court the prosecution had to prove that a pursuit of a fox had taken place and it was intentional.

During the trial, magistrates saw clips of three incidents recorded by the League Against Cruel Sports on one day. Two of them only featured huntsman Hopkins on horseback. The other showed Hopkins on horseback calling Allen, a terrier man, to put a terrier down a hole to dig out a fox.

Mr Mott said there were legal issues surrounding the footage of Hopkins on his own.
