Idea will prove to be crazy
A lot is being said about the demolition of the bridge and the widening of the pavements along Belgrave Road (Golden Mile).
Having lived in the area for more than 35 years, I find it difficult to understand how the flow of traffic will be controlled and the build-up prevented, especially during peak times.
Leicester City Council, in my opinion, should trial a closure for a period of four weeks and see what happens before it removes the bridge and wastes much money and create a huge problem for the area on a major road which carries thousands of vehicles on a daily basis.
I suggest the council should close the bridge both ways and have single-lane traffic both ways along the Golden Mile to highlight issues before it goes ahead with the crazy idea. The cars will not disappear and traffic will be as crazy as ever.

Maybe that would be a wake-up call to all concerned before they bring down this flyover known to be the entry and exit point to the well-known Golden Mile.

“@ LikeItaLot; not only will the work involved cause disruption whilst in progress, the result of that work will be permenant disruption, because the capacity of the roundabout/junction in it's entirety will be reduced...”

“"Leicester City Council, in my opinion, should trial a closure for a period of four weeks". That is so much sense. Before some say it will disrupt traffic, so will the work involved with this unnecessary proposal”
