James wins holiday after having logo tattooed on his bottom
Most people enter a raffle or fill in a form to win a holiday, but one man got a "cheeky" tattoo in a bid to bag a trip to the Canary Islands.
James Bourner, 24, from Groby, got a massive logo tattooed on his bottom after he spotted an advert for a charity calendar competition while on holiday in Corralejo, Fuerteventura.
Patrons of Flicks, the local karaoke bar, were asked to send wacky photos of themselves to win a trip back to the seaside resort.
James, who is well known among friends for his spontaneous decisions, rushed home and asked his brother-in-law Daniel to tattoo the bar's logo on his backside.
Unfortunately, due to a computer failure, he did not upload the picture of his artistic behind until ten minutes after the competition closed.
He said: "I started having it done at 11pm at night and the competition closed at 11.59pm.
"The tattoo is really big – it completely covers one of my bum cheeks – because we didn't have an equipment to reduce it in size from the photocopy I had. I was totally gutted when I realised I was too late, but I thought 'Oh well, at least it's a good souvenir of the holiday'."
Staff at the bar run by British expatriates were so impressed by the Leicester man's efforts that despite not being able to crown him the competition winner, said they would pay for his holiday out of their own pockets. The competition, which saw more than 200 hopefuls enter via Facebook, aims to raise money for Ataxia-Telangiectasia – a rare, neurodegenerative and progressive condition – and is sponsored by Thomas Cook, which provided the winners' holidays.
Bar owner John Brophy said: "More than 200 people entered the competition but I think it's safe to say that James went above and beyond the call of duty. It's absolutely unbelievable what he has done. We felt terrible when we realised that he was too late so have decided to give him a holiday anyway, paid out of our pockets."
The huge tattoo which features the bar's snapper board logo, with the words Flicks Corralejo, is not James' first unusual tattoo.
He said: "I've got a few crazy ones. I have got a SpongeBob SquarePants tattoo on my leg – I did that one myself.
"I've got a tiny ladybird on my other bum cheek and also an Ayia Napa tattoo – but they have spelt it totally wrong.
"Anyone who sees it thinks I'm mad but to be honest people that know me aren't that surprised that I did it."

“Why would he want it removing? It's a token of a great holiday, also it's not exactly like it's on show is it.
And MrA you may feel you have a need to take the p out of someone and feel they are a plonker. At the end of the day, someone has had a tattoo in a place that no one will really ever see and despite being unlucky and missing the competition close has still managed to win a holiday. I'd say that's a result.”

“mattnhelen
the word you're searching for is 'spontaneous.....'
ummmm .. the trouble with us boring types is, we inevitably find a plonker (or two) to take the p out of.
BTW - do you have any tattoes?”
