A statement said: "There are 15 stores which do not meet the required level of profitability and so, unfortunately, these will close.
"Jessops will be contacting customers by e-mail to explain where their nearest Jessops store is now located.
"Jessops remains committed to the high street and this is part of a programme to improve the quality of Jessops' estate."
Last year, the company relocated its store in Granby Street, in the city centre, to the former Clinton Cards shop in nearby Gallowtree Gate.
The group also has a store in Loughborough.
Jessops, founded in 1935, said it planned to refurbish a further 10 stores, bringing the total number which have been revamped to 90 by the end of this year.
