We have all suffered one way or the other over this last few weeks of hard winter weather, when rural roads, in particular, have been hazardous, if not impassable.

I would like to take this opportunity to mention the prompt and effective measures taken by Councillor Joe Orson and Mr Andrew Warrington, of Leicestershire Highways, to grit Hall Orchard leading to Frisby Primary School (Frisby-on-the-Wreake) on January 13.

At the very height of the pressure on services, Mr Warrington combated the snow and ice by installing three bins full of grit on January 14.

I am sure the people at the school and the village would join me in expressing gratitude for the road being made safely passable in this instance.

Thanks again – it was much appreciated.

Tony Fowler, Grimston.
