Love was definitely in the air at a children's badge and craft-making event with a Valentine's theme.

More than 250 youngsters filed into Leicester's Newarke Houses museum to take part in the event yesterday.

They got busy with hearts, beads and glitter, making badges and cards for mums, boyfriends, girlfriends and other family members.

Rachel Fraser-Orton, the customer service assistant at the museum, said: "There's been quite a mixture in today and the boys have been quite surprising. Most were making Valentine's cards for mum.

"The boys were definitely making cards for mum, while some of the girls for themselves, although we have been hearing a few boyfriends' names as well.

"Others have been making them for brothers and sisters and the badges and cards have included lots of hearts and butterflies."

Youngsters attending the event were also able to take part in a Valentine's trail round the museum hunting for clues, as well as having their faces painted.
